CONVERGE

Well these guys have also always been a huge favorite of mine for some time now. They always make music on their terms and never compromise a inch! They are force to see live and I will always put anything down to see them. Their lead singer Jacob Bannon is also a amazing artist who does all of their art and design.

It was a bit of a struggle to come up with a concept for them since there were so many good options! Then it came to me while looking at another favorite artist of mine, Goya and his piece " Sleep of reason". I thought it would be cool to do my own version of that image and so I set out to do just that......

Once again this poster was hand pulled and screenprinted by the great folks at CHOPCHOP gallery and will have a limited edition of 30 prints.This image was created under the influence of the following cds = Trash Talk, Archie bronson outfit, Titus Andronicus, 108, and Fugazi !

WOVENHAND GIG POSTER

Wovenhand is a band that I just can't get enough of!! Fronted by a musician named David Eugene Edwards, a man of intense passion and faith! After I bought one of their albums I had to have them all. I even bought up all of his 16 horsepower albums as well. I can't really put into words what this mans music means to me. He is one of my all time favorites! A true and honest man of faith. Please do yourself a favor and check out his stuff!

With this art I really wanted to tap into the imagery of the lyrics and the faith expressed in all of his work. Some of the themes I used were the rooster for its symbol of denial (Matthew 26:34), and the hand with the 3 fingers extended for the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost. This gesture most often appears in icon paintings. The last symbol is of the snake, which is meant to portray temptation and evil.

The first two pics at the top are some process shot's I did of the finished inks. I meant to take some shots of the final pencils but it slipped my mind. Once again this was laid out in photoshop with the red color dropped in as well. This print has a run of 30 and again screenprinted by craig and ashley at CHOPCHOP gallery! I must say that they are great to work with and do such a amazing job as well! This print was created under the influence of the following groups = Om, Pontiak, Seu Jorge, Hangedup, and Zola Jesus....

HIGH ON FIRE GIG POSTER

What to say about high on fire?? They are just a great act with immense noise and thunder!! I have seen them twice and will always try to catch them when I can. All their cds are a must have, but Blessed Black Wings stands out at the moment. I would also highly recommend Matt Pikes band before High on Fire, Sleep.

The photo above is a process shot of my work inked after the pencils are done. I then took the image into photoshop to re-size and drop a tad of color into. I do most all of the work by hand including the type and then just use the computer to lay the image out.

Then comes the final below which was screenprinted by the great folks at CHOPCHOP gallery on heavy, archival, acid free stock. The poster has a run of 40 and will be up for sale soon! Soundtrack while doing the work = MONO, WOVENHAND, AND 16 HORSEPOWER.....
